Tico Tico no Fuba

Tico Tico no Fuba, new Release

I am pleased to announce my first release of the year 2016. It is recorded with a nylon string Spanish guitar, and it is an arrangement of the composition called: Tico Tico, no Fuba. It was composed by Zequinha de Abreu in 1917. The title of the composition, when translated into English,  means Sparrow in the Cornmeal.

I have arranged the compositions so as to be performed by two guitars.

However, if you would like to hear it live, please come to one of my upcoming Melbourne Concerts.

Upcoming Melbourne Concerts

The next concert is this coming Friday, August 26 at 7 pm, at the Armadale Uniting Church. You may purchase Melbourne Concert tickets though this link. The price of my flamenco and jazz concert is $25 . Tamara Murphy will be joining me on bass.

A bit more about Tico Tico

Tico Tico is a composition that changes tonal center three times. It starts off in Am,  Aeolian,  then continues in the relative major. It concludes in the key of A Ionian. The result is that of forward movement, creating excitement and the need to hear more of it. I just love the piece.

Did you know Grateful Dead would play this song in between tunes, as an interlude ?

I came across this composition when I heard Paco de Lucia perform it in a rumba style. Ever since, I have always wanted to create my own version, with a touch of flamenco and jazz. I do hope you like and enjoy it as I do.

For all those interested in my Melbourne guitar courses and lessons please follow this link. I will be traveling to Spain, this coming month of September, and the school will reopen on the 10th of October.
